So we just finished sound checking for the first show on our regional run, “The Reckoning” tour. Fuck I love touring, but to be honest there was a point there where I started to burn out.
As you all know the Getaway Plan broke up in 2009, this was because of many reasons, but a big part of it was the constant touring. It wasn’t really a matter of being ungrateful. Sometimes a lot of tensions build up and if you don’t deal with them they can really come back to haunt you.
This also happened more recently when I was in The Amity Affliction. We were touring so much, all over the world and there was even a time where I was away from home for around 9 months. I definitely had some of the greatest times of my life but I must admit there was a point where I felt like I couldn’t go on anymore. You start to miss home, you forget birthdays and it all starts to become a whirlwind! It’s always hard dealing with band life as well as your personal life at home, but it definitely is manageable. I guess you just need to experience the ups and downs to really appreciate it all.
But now I can proudly say I really really fucking love touring again. The last few tours with TGP have been incredible and having the opportunity to meet all you fans, well, let’s just say its been a fucking pleasure!
